I am enthusiastically endorsing James Van Beek for re-election as our Eagle County Sheriff. His military service, deep Eagle County roots, and unwavering integrity make him the right leader to continue protecting our community.
I found you to be professional, approachable, honest, and willing to listen. You demonstrated that supporting your people and holding yourself and the agency accountable to the truth can coexist. My time at the Eagle County Sheriff's Office left me with a lasting respect for your leadership, your commitment to your personnel and the community.
Throughout his tenure as Sheriff, he has demonstrated steady leadership, professionalism, sound judgment and a genuine commitment to the people of Eagle County. James has consistently made himself accessible to residents, community organizations and local leaders, and I have always found him willing to listen, communicate and work collaboratively to address the issues that matter to our community.
His outreach, care and dedication to all the people he serves is incredibly heartening for a man in his position. His fairness, accountability and intelligence makes it easy to look up to James as a role model. There is nobody better suited to be Sheriff of Eagle County. I whole heartedly support his continued leadership as Sheriff and will be enthusiastically supporting and voting for James.
James is a leader who invites honest, rigorous dialogue because he cares deeply about the outcome and Eagle County. James possesses a rare balance of advocacy for his personnel and fiscal responsibility to the taxpayers. James Van Beek is a dedicated, fiscally responsible, and community-minded leader who puts the needs of Eagle County first. I wholeheartedly recommend his continued service as Eagle County Sheriff.
I developed a genuine appreciation for the agency, the people I worked alongside, and most importantly, the community we served. I valued the opportunity to engage with the residents of Eagle County and saw firsthand how important strong relationships between law enforcement and the community truly are. Sheriff Van Beek and his Command were on Scene on all major events whether it was a natural disaster or criminal in nature, himself or the Undersheriff where present ensuring the public was informed and getting top level service.
I am honored to offer my strong endorsement of Sheriff James Van Beek of Eagle County, Colorado. I have had the privilege of knowing Sheriff Van Beek both as a friend and as a fellow sheriff. Through that relationship, I have come to know him as a man of strong character, unwavering integrity, and genuine commitment to the people he serves. What stands out most to me is his commitment to doing what is right, even when doing so is not necessarily the easiest or most popular choice. He understands that being a sheriff is about more than enforcing the law; it is about earning and maintaining the trust of the community, supporting the men and women who serve alongside him, and providing steady leadership in challenging times.
I've had the opportunity to work alongside James and had the opportunity to work alongside him for more than a decade. Even though we come from different political parties, I have witnessed his dedication to ethical leadership, sound judgment, and serving the public above all else. Those qualities transcend politics, and they are exactly you want in a Sheriff. I'm proud to endorse James van Beek for Eagle County Sheriff.
I have met with Sheriff (James) VanBeek and Undersheriff (Dan) Loya many times over the past 13 years as a business owner and both have been very receptive and knowledgeable with any issues or questions I may have. As a business owner in and around the Eagle County area, I would highly recommend keeping the team in place and vote for James VanBeek as your Sheriff for another term.
Throughout my law enforcement career, I have had the opportunity to work alongside Sheriff Van Beek in several capacities, and I have consistently been impressed by his professionalism, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the communities he serves. His approach to law enforcement has always been centered on building trust, fostering partnerships, and ensuring that public safety is achieved through strong community relationships. I first had the opportunity to work closely with Sheriff Van Beek while serving with the Basalt Police Department. During that time, I witnessed firsthand his willingness to collaborate across jurisdictions, support neighboring agencies, and work toward solutions that benefited the entire region rather than any single organization. His leadership and accessibility made him a trusted partner, and our agencies were stronger because of that relationship. Later, as the Director of the Law Enforcement Training Academy at Colorado Mountain College, I again had the privilege of working with Sheriff Van Beek and his agency. His support of the academy and commitment to developing the next generation of law enforcement professionals was invaluable. He consistently recognized the importance of quality training and professional development, and his willingness to invest time, resources, and encouragement helped strengthen our program and ultimately benefited law enforcement agencies throughout our region. I greatly valued his partnership and unwavering support during my time leading the academy. Sheriff Van Beek understands that effective law enforcement is built on more than enforcing laws—it requires listening to the community, being transparent, supporting victims, collaborating with local agencies, and earning the trust of those we serve every day. His community-focused leadership has made a meaningful difference, and his dedication to public service is evident in every aspect of his work. As Chief of Police, I appreciate leaders who prioritize cooperation, professionalism, and service above all else. Sheriff Van Beek exemplifies those qualities, and I have every confidence that he will continue to lead the Sheriff's Office with integrity, accountability, and a genuine commitment to the citizens of his community. I am proud to endorse Sheriff Van Beek for re-election and support his continued leadership.
I can speak firsthand to Sheriff Van Beek's character and reliability, both as a colleague and as a friend. When I was sworn in as Sheriff of Pitkin County, I was given just 48 hours by another agency to relocate inmates who were being housed out of county while our own jail was closed. It was an enormously difficult situation to inherit at one. Sheriff Van Beek stepped up without hesitation, working with me to house those inmates in Eagle County. That kind of support — offered quickly, generously, and without complication — says everything about who he is as a leader and as a partner to fellow sheriffs across our region.
Endorsements from neighbors, business owners, and community leaders power this campaign. If you are ready to stand with Sheriff Van Beek, we would love to hear from you.
